Dining and drinking
I’ve wanted to visit the Pink Adobe restaurant in Santa Fe since I worked for a cookbook author who raved about it. It was wonderful. Make reservations. It was very busy when we arrived at 7:30. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. The interior is lovely and warm. The food was authentic local fare, with a high-dining twist.
According to every local we talked to, every restaurant in the downtown area is wonderful. They all said, “If they aren’t, they don’t last long.”

We didn’t have a chance to visit Tomasitas, but apparently their Swirl Margaritas are legendary. Next time!

So happy we had enough time to visit this treasury of her work. I learned so much in an hour—I didn’t know about her UVA background, for example.
My takeaway from an interview they were showing of her: She said she tried to learn how to paint like the great painters, but she wasn’t good enough. So, she decided to paint like herself. And that’s what she attributed her success to.

One of my all time favs of Georgia’s.
One shitty note
The Roadrunner transport from Santa Fe–is a blatant rip-off. When you get to Lamy station, (Amtrak closest to Santa Fe), you’re in the middle of no-where. It’s a bit scary, to be honest. The station is not manned and cell phone service is non-existent. This disgusting rip-off van service was there and told us they could “rescue us” and drive us into Santa Fe, for $40 a person. The driver even said that Uber did NOT come out to Lamy. So, what could we do.
He lied right to our faces. Uber does indeed come out to Lamy. It costs from $19-$39. If we had simply walked into the little station, there is wifi, and we could have called an Uber. So, we were ripped off by about $100. I hope he chokes on it. Asshole. We do intend to contact the Santa Fe tourist bureau about it. What a shameful introduction to a charming and lovely town.
